About 4 billion years ago all the water in the ocean was fresh water but due to continuous volcanic eruption and continue release of gases it causes the acid rain which mixed some minerals in water like chlorine, fluorine etc which further reacts and form the ocean water salty.
Suppose you are chilling at a sandy beach, taking a sunbath and suddenly feels thirsty and you just go to ocean and drink the water from it and that will not salty...
Sounds amazing if all the water in the ocean become fresh water then what will happen to the life forms and food chain will the life still be sustainable on earth..?
lets find out!!!
There are only approx 20000 aquatic species which can survive in both fresh water and salt water...but what about rest of the species...
Obviously they cannot survive in the fresh water so this will lead to the huge loss of nutrition and protein to human as well as to other life forms it will also disturb the food chain....
Second thing is the coral rocks and algae present in the ocean which is one of the main source of photosynthesis which produces oxygen at a great extent but the algae cannot survive in fresh water so there will be a huge increase in the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of earth leading to the increase in the global warming
So indirectly it will catalyze the global warming..
what if all ocean water were to become fresh water ?
